OceanCongressman Sam Farr, who represents the 17th District in California, talks about H.R. 21, the “Oceans Conservation, Education, and National Strategy for the 21st Century Act,” a bill which he introduced. According to Congressman Farr, while we have had national policies on clean air and clean water, no similar legislation exists related to the ocean which is the reason for this legislation.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20, 2008 and join in California’s largest volunteer cleanup event. Eben Schwartz, Outreach Manager with the California Coastal Commission, says that more cleanup activities will be happening off the beach than on the coast itself since most of the trash littering our beaches and ocean comes from inland areas.
